Why Lotteries?

A lottery system provides a fair distribution process and ensures equal access to the recreation facility. Many of these opportunities are in such high demand that access is limited to prevent damage to the natural landscape, as well as to preserve the visitor experience.

How does the lottery work?

Application:

A lottery application period is opened at a designated time for each recreation facility. Applicants must submit an online application, or utilize the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-877-647-2757 during the lottery timeframe.

Selection:

Lottery selection is completely random. An application is selected, at which time the preferred choice is fitted to the facility calendar. If the first choice does not fit into the calendar, the second choice is attempted, then the third. This cycle is repeated until the calendar is full.

Notification:

Successful lottery winners, as well as unsuccessful applicants, shall be notified at the close of the lottery, via email, mail, and automated phone call.
